Adalo was launched in November 2019 by co-founders David Adkin, Ben Haefele and Jeremy Blalock.
David came from a traditional design background and was always interested in the design process and helping people create new things. He started working with Ben at another SaaS startup in St. Louis and they started collaborating on a book about design and how to break down the design process. This led to them talking about creating some kind of product to help people bring their ideas to life.
During this time UX design tools were progressing really quickly and kept getting more and more realistic. To the point that when trying to learn to code it just felt like design tools would evolve faster than you could learn to code. And hence the idea for Adalo was born.
Adalo has five corporate values. Serious decisions are always made in the context of the principles you hold. If purpose is the north star of an organization, then principles are the map, showing which path to take in order to get where you want to go.

Adalo’s purpose is to empower makers to bring their ideas to life.
The skill of coding prevents billions of people from bringing their ideas to life. (In fact only 0.3% of people can code today.) We believe this needs to change. We believe anyone should be able to create an app regardless of their technical expertise. Because a world where only 1% of people can solve problems is a world missing 99% of its potential.
